Doug Henders

Born in Chicago in 1957, Doug Henders graduated with a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art in 1983 after a career, based in Germany, as a cartographer in the US Army.

Henders’s work relates strongly to his concept of contemporary painting as an expanded medium that can incorporate the technological attributes of screens, windows and interfaces. He approaches his practice as a new mapping template for an interactive, web-based view of nature, society and history. As a painter, he approaches his canvases utilizing concepts and technical skills, interfaced with screens and windows, that reveal his mapmaking skills as applied to his views of contemporary society.

He is known in the musical world for the cover of Prince And The Revolution’s 1985 album Around the World In A Daywould later influence his highly individualistic artistic style.

Doug Henders currently resides in NYC and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
