Greg Singley

GREG SINGLEY - was born in 1950 in Greensboro, Alabama. He received his college education at Walker Collage Jasper Alabama and the University of South Alabama, Mobile Alabama. He attended the revered Ringling School of Art for his art training in Sarasota Florida and graduated with a degree in commercial illustration. In 1978 Singley moved west to Phoenix Arizona to persue his passion for western art and illustration. Singley's dream came true with employment as an Illustrator while continuing to pursue his love of fine art. Singley worked for several years as an illustrator at the same time experienced sales of Native American and Western Landscape in several Arizona galleries which include Ratliff Williams Gallery (Sedona)and Fagen Peterson Fine Art (Scottsdale).

After a foray into freelance illustration Singley sought representation for his varied abilities and interest in fine art and found the Phoenix Art Group (formerly John Cline Gallery). It was here, from 1989 to 1997, that Singley came into his own, as one of our country's leading floral impressionist painters. When asked about this transition he answers," I was prepared and able to adapt my experiences as an illustrator to achieve the challenge to become an Impressionist. Since He has been represented in the finest galleries from New York to Hawaii and his works have been published in limited editions with two of the most prominent publishing companies in the country, Winn Devon (Seattle) and Collector's Editions (Los Angeles).

Today Singley's floral Impressionist works are represented by The Forrest Scott Gallery, New York, The Brigantine Gallery, Chicago and The Onessimo Gallery, Palm Beach . Singley's American West works are represented by the Collier Gallery, Scottsdale and the Horizon Gallery, Jackson Hole. His works appear in many notable collections both corporate and private. His work appeared in the film "Waiting to Exhale" and numerous TV broadcasts, Including Dallas. Betty Lou Phillips one of the nation's top designers features Singley's work in her book French Influences. He was invited to present his painting technique in the popular magazine "International Artist" June/July 2005.

Artist Statement: It is my passion to create Paintings you can watch. I don't want my paintings to just hang quietly on your wall. I paint to initially achieve an optical hook with a strong compositional dynamic and pallet and then hold the eye with depth of atmosphere and interest in color modeling and visible strokes in detail. My inspiration comes from three Artists: French Impressionist and Father of The Impressionist Movement, Claude Monet. Fritz Schoulder, Expressionist painter of the Native American, and Paul Pletka, Master surrealist Painter of the Native American culture . Monet knows the soul of a flower and Schoulder and Pletka invaded and will eternally inhabit my soul with the mystery of the West.

Currently Singley lives and paints in Santa Barbara California.
