The Will of the Wind
The wind is indiscriminate. It doesn’t care what, who or where you are, and it doesn’t give a hoot about tragedy or prosperity, both of which it can bring. It’s will is unflinching, imagine, then, its frustration with the stem of a pear. For all of the wind’s abilities to rip and shear and twist and tear, the tiny pear stem, weak by most any other standard, leans in utter defiance. Imagine as well, the pear stem confused and confounded that the other, stronger things around it cannot also defy the wind.
The will of people is much the same. Some of us, though tender and patient in our common days, find it effortless to stand up to great power when necessary. Others, mighty and influential, masters of all they survey, find themselves helpless against something tiny and seemingly insignificant.
It boils down to respect, I suppose those who harbor equal respect for the wind and the stem are those who would walk most gracefully through their days here. This respect however, is not an easy trick.
None of us are perfect, but then again, have you ever found a pear without a dent, bruise or mark on its surface? A pear without flaws would appear false or incomplete, and the same is true about all of us. Having said that, be mindful the wind, be mindful the stem and be accepting of your fellow pears.
